It eliminates 95% of the chlorine from your shower water. It's self-cleaning-no need for any replacement cartridges.
It will last for years.
The drying effects of chlorine are alleviated; your skin will be softer and your hair will become less dry and
brittle.
Chlorine
According to scientists, chlorine is one of the most toxic natural elements. However, we come into contact with
chlorine every day. It is universally recognized for its ability to kill micro-organisms. Chlorine attacks organic
material, as do all bleaches and floor disinfectants. But if chlorine kills bacteria and bleaches or oxidizes food
stains, imagine its effects on our skin, eyes and lungs, all of which are made of organic materials! Chlorine is an
inorganic substance that establishes chemical bonds with the proteins of our hair and skin and thus destroys their
natural balance.
Wanting to remove chlorine residues from our drinking water is simply good sense. It is also logical to eliminate
the chlorine from the water we shower or bathe in. Experts agree that we consume more chlorine when we take our daily
shower or bath than by drinking tap water. Under a shower of chlorinated water, we inhale 10 to 100 times more chlorine
and other chemicals (chlorine, chloroform, trichloroethylene, haloforms, pesticides, etc.) than we get in our drinking
water. When heated, the chemicals in the water evaporate and penetrate the lungs directly. The effects are even
greater in people with fragile constitutions such as babies, small children, seniors and people with sensitive skin.
The same chemicals infiltrate our skin and have harmful effects on health and beauty: flaky skin, itching, aging skin,
dry, brittle hair, etc.
Medical science recognizes the skin as the largest organ of the body; an average adult's skin weighs 12 pounds.
Clearly, then, it is no wiser to expose one's skin to a chemical disinfectant like chlorine than to drink it.
It breaks and dries out hair. It can make the skin sensitive, dry, scaly and irritated. In the long term, the DO-HY
Chlo-Filter is the solution to problems caused by chlorine; we can care for ourselves with clear, clean, healthy water.
The DO-HY Chlo-Filter
The DO-HY Chlo-Filter is a dechlorinator. It does not contain toxic filtering granules. When chlorine comes in contact
with the KDF, it is transformed into zinc chloride, a harmless and ecologically benign compound.
The KDF filter removes over 95% of the chlorine. Consequently, your skin will feel much more comfortable. This
discovery represents real progress in the field of water treatment because it allows one to eliminate impurities that
resist municipalities' normal filtration practices. Chlorinated water plays its role as an antibacterial agent until it
reaches your shower, at which point the KDF in the Chlo-Filter decomposes the chlorine before the water touches you.
The DO-HY Chlo-Filter allows you to purify your water by eliminating chlorine and other chemicals that are harmful to
your skin, eyes, lungs and hair. The Chlo-Filter with KDF reduces organochlorines, heavy metals, iron and hydrogen
sulfide. It prevents the development of bacteria. In addition, it changes the crystallization structure of calcium
carbonate (hard water sediment), which prevents calcium buildup on your tiles after a shower or bath and leaves your
skin softer and your hair silkier.
Is asthma linked to chlorine?
Researchers at the University of Louvain, Belgium, claim that children who frequently play in indoor swimming pools
are susceptible to asthma and that chlorine is responsible.
The study reveals that chlorine damages the membranes that protect lung tissues. This makes children more sensitive
to pollen, smoke and other irritants. Sweat and urine also react with the chlorine to create harmful acids.
In Canada, approximately 13% of children and teens 5 to 19 years old suffer from asthma. However, one of the authors
of the study emphasizes that there are a number of ways to avoid the problem.

KDF
KDF (Kinetic Degradation Fluxion) is a zinc-copper alloy that uses a chemical process (oxidation-reduction) to reduce
or remove chlorine, lead, mercury, iron, hydrogen sulfide, calcium carbonate, magnesium and chromium from water. This
process prevents bacteria, algae, fungi and calcium deposits from proliferating.
This technology was developed by KDF Fluid Treatment, Inc. in the mid-1980s and was patented in 1987. The company is still a leader in its field. The KDF filter meets the requirements of the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration), two important U.S. government agencies.
The KDF filtration process is used as a pre-treatment to complement or replace existing technology, prolong the life
of systems, reduce contamination by heavy metals and micro-organisms, and decrease operating and maintenance costs.
The KDF filtering process is often associated with other technologies to obtain better results. Its effectiveness in
hot water makes it absolutely appropriate for the shower.
The Redox (REDuction OXidation) process can be explained as follows: KDF (copper and zinc) creates an electrochemical
reaction. Electrons are transferred among molecules and new elements are created. Dangerous contaminants are transformed
into harmless compounds. For example, chlorine is transformed into zinc chloride, which dissolves in water. It is then
completely harmless and ecologically safe. The same thing happens to heavy metals.
Self-cleaning
The DO-HY Chlo-Filter comes with an adapter. The manufacturer recommends doing the self-cleaning process regularly once
a month, when the water pressure is reduced. The procedure is as follows:
- Remove the shower head
- Remove the filter, including the Water Control device
- Turn the filter around and screw it into the shower pipe with the adapter
- Run water slowly through the filter for one minute
- Detach the filter and remove the adapter, reattach it to the pipe on the Water Control side and replace the shower head
How long does the DO-HY Chlo-Filter last?
According to the manufacturer, the KDF Chlo-Filter will remain effective for filtering 60,000 liters of water.
Obviously, the longevity of each DO-HY Chlo-Filter will depend on the water flow, the length of showers and the number
of showers people take.
We have based our calculations on the average measurements published by various organizations and government agencies.
They agree that people spend an average of approximately five minutes under the shower and that this uses 50 to 80
liters of water.
Some water conservation programs talk about a "sailor's shower," meaning that the water is turned off when one is
soaping oneself. This is closely related to the DO-HY Approach's recommendations. Our Water Control device does in
fact make it possible to reduce water consumption. In addition, it allows you to turn the water back on at the same
temperature as before.
We calculate that a DO-HY style shower uses an average of 60 liters of water, which gives a total of 1,000
chlorine-free showers (95% free). The chlorine filtering becomes less efficient thereafter but it does not stop
completely at the thousandth shower. The Chlo-Filter continues to protect you from chlorine for several months
afterwards.
Testimonials
«With the Water Control device, the water isn't running all the time. You turn off the water, you put Dermo-Cleanser
on the brush, you brush yourself and you don't lose all your Dermo! And you don't waste water.»
Claude Turcotte
Retired Executive
«Your skin is smoother with the Chlo-Filter. It allows the DO-HY Dermo-Cleanser to work; you can feel it-it's not
altered by chlorine

"With the DO-HY Chlo-Filter, chlorine doesn't affect our eyes. And we know that chlorine is also bad for our breathing.
In fact, it's harmful for your whole body.»
